A big thank you once again to the fabulous Pop-ular Paul for giving up his time and mountains of effort to put on a splendid pop quiz last Friday, especially good this month as my team finally won 🙂 . While the jackpot prize (£103) was won last month this quiz saw another first as one of our sweet innocent 16 year old first timer s to the quiz played the share or shaft game and right royally shafted an unsuspecting older gentleman to take all the money and run.
It would be lovely to see a few more of you there next month (Friday 15 November) to show Paul his efforts are worthwhile
Looking forward Friday sees the Hassocks Hash runners on Malc’s birthday bash out and about with flashlights at the ready. (Set-off 7.30pm prompt.) As it’s a Friday they will be lucky enough to return to warming curry, Friday’s Phat Funky sounds and perhaps a wee glass of something to welcome in the weekend.
Saturday it’s the Hassocks Monthly Market (9-1pm) in the village centre and a first visit by the Purple Carrot in a vendor capacity offering the well received Firecracker Soup and a chorizo and chickpea broth – might even manage a few speciality cakes, tasca’s and bagels too.
Monday 28th and we’re into half term so why not prepare for Halloween and enjoy an afternoon carving that special scary Pumpkin lantern, then eat its gooey flesh in a sweet pumpkin pie,or slurp it in a juicy warming soup. and to get the mood spot on we also have Tim Burton’s masterful The Corpse Bride to keep the jaunty tone…and while you’re here why not check out the fancy dress shop that has opened up next door on Station Approach?
Wednesday‘s free film is the suitably appropriate first offering by the Coen Brothers – Blood Simple – showing starts at 8pm
