No sooner do we put our first Autumn outing to bed than we effortlessly bound to the next. With massive thanks to Rob and the gang (Andrew Lawrence, Gareth Richards, Don Biswas and Micky Overman) for an excellent start we can now look forward to special attention from Ava Vidal, Meryl O’Rourke and Nick Elleray
Up and coming talent Rob Thomas takes the MC role again and his royal goggle-eyedness brings with him a ton of talent to stir the sleepy, bring laughter to the lonely, share banter with the beery….such fun
Rob Thomas –
With his unruly hair and neat rug-pulling observations Thomas had something of the early Jasper Carrott about him. Conventional but with a twist… Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke.
With Rob at Adastra Hall this month will be the comedic collective genius of
…since she turned heads as the BBC New Comedy Awards’ only female finalist in the very first year of her career. She has appeared on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up, Edinburgh and Beyond and C4 reality show Kings of Comedy. Ava was the subject of the documentary From the Top, detailing her background and development as a comedian.
‘Stand-up with a harsh, dark edge, a refreshing change from all the feel-good crap.’ Melbourne Age
Acclaimed stand-up comic and accomplished TV writer Meryl O’Rourke, revels in her bitterness. A potty mouthed potty trainer, she has delighted comedy audiences, written some of the best gags on telly and even hosted pop concerts (the last one to 12,000 people!)
She supported Frankie Boyle for part of his last tour, at his request. She also supported him at the Hammersmith Apollo. In his book ‘Work! Consume! Die!’ he calls Meryl “Inspiringly funny”.
“★★★★ Her devastatingly direct show stands out for it’s bold, boundary-breaking nature…the shocking casualness of her delivery is spot on.” Jewish Chronicle
“★★★★ Very funny. Tightly written, deftly performed, intimate storytelling and packed with punchlines” TheLatest
“★★★★ Meryl has a natural wit that few possess” ScotsGay
Nick Elleray is a comic based in London. Originally from Australia, he lives in the UK due to a combination of inertia and an utter disinterest in sport.
“an under-appreciated purveyor of quality downbeat comedy.”Steve Bennett, Chortle
“An impressive set… Elleray is an engaging stand-up with an inventive mind.”The List
“definitely an act that left the audience wanting more”Bruce Dessau, BeyondTheJoke.co.uk
